Can someone please explain the difference between nodes and interfaces. Thank you.
Hi
A node is a device and that device can contain interfaces. For example, a switch would be a node (monitored by it's IP address) that has multiple interfaces associated with it (the ports on the switch). Another example would be a server (the node) and that server might have several NICs installed (interfaces).
You also get different data from nodes and interfaces. A node would give you things like packet loss and responce times were as an interfaces give you things like utilisation, data sent/received etc.
Thats my way of looking at it.
Cheers
Alan
A node is a device, router, switch, firewall, server, etc. Each node can have volumes, interface, UnDP, Application (if you have SAM).
Thank you guys for your help.
