Database migration

Question

Hi All,

Pls help.I am trying to install solarwind v9. i have followed all the procedures told in the guide.I have backed my the old database using the database manager and when i try to restore it in the new machine it says restored successfully but the database would not appear..what to do?i am using sql express

The DB is still reflecting the old Engine ID would be my guess. Open the Orion Server: click on Start>All Programs>SolarWinds Orion>Advanced Features>Monitor Polling Engines. When the box comes up: Click on Servers>Poller Load Balancing. Then just reassign the nodes to the other poller and you are done.

You are trying to move to a new server and have completed the following steps:

* You have backed up (created netperfmon.bak file) the database

* Installed SQL Express on new server
* Created a new database and restored the file from step 1. If the name and DB locations are different, you will have to force an overwrite

* Installed Orion on new server
* Ran the configuration wizard and connected to the new database

This all completed succesfully, but you then do not have any nodes or data showing in System Manager and Web interface?

If this is the case, check the database using DB Manager and confirm it has data in the tables.

no they are not reflecting. i installed the sloarwinds 9 and i am  using database manager option to restore the back up file from the old server. The backup database is called netperfomon.bak  when i restore the wizard says complete but doesnot make any changes

pls help
