No Menus After 12.0.1 Upgrade

I was running NPM 11.5.3, NTA 4.1 and wanted to try a 30 Day trial of VQNM. I was told by Solarwinds I would have to upgrade my current versions to NPM 12.0.1 and NTA 4.2.1 before I could try it. I asked repeatedly for a trial version that would run on what I have now but they wouldn't budge. I can only do one of these upgrades per week due to the amount of downtime one of these upgrades takes in my environment. So three weeks ago I upgraded NTA and two weeks ago upgraded NPM to 12.0.1 and haven't had menus since. Now they are telling me I need to upgrade to 12.1 to fix the menus which means two more upgrades of NTA and one more of NPM. For a grand total of six weeks without menus on NPM!!!! UNACCEPTABLE SOLARWINDS!

Has anyone else had problems with 12.0.1 menus not showing up and had Solarwinds fix them before 12.1 came out? I'm despserate here and Solarwinds is holding me hostage with these upgrades - which I never wanted to do in the first place!

Going to play devil's advocate here but you upgraded NTA first and now want/need to do NPM?

I've always read and was told to do NPM first if you run it, always do the NPM update prior to any other products. The issue you're seeing might be because of this. I'd highly recommend giving them a call and/or opening a case online.

I'm having a similar issue after upgrading from NPM 12.0.1 to 12.1 (also NCM 7.6 and NTA 4.2.2). NPM was upgraded first, then NCM, and then NTA. I've tried the two KBs below without success. There is a ticket open with support.

Other steps we've tried:

-Ran Configuration Wizard for Website again

-Stopped/Restarted IIS

-Rebooted server

Has anyone else had this issue with NPM 12.1?

Following this as I was going to schedule a NPM and SAM upgrade. Guess I'll hang back and wait a bit.

It happened to me too, it definitely was related to high load right after the upgrade, and it settled down in a few minutes and I was back to normal.

Thanks neomatrix. Unfortunately that was something we have already tried.

jm, how long did it take to settle down? I upgraded yesterday and the menu still has not returned. Utilization is pretty low on the server now too.

Are you able to see the menu's if you open the web console from within the Orion server?

It only took like 30 minutes, and if your server has free resources, it might be time to look elsewhere

Now going on about a month with no menus. Been on the phone with 1st, 2nd, 3rd level support and developers as well. Still no menus. Everything mentioned in this thread has been tried multiple times. I'm now an IIS wizard from all of the crap Solarwinds has asked me to do.

The only reason I upgraded Orion was to try VQNM (you know, spend more money with Solarwinds) but I'm not sure that is going to happen now based on the piss poor support I've received thus far.

I'm losing my patience and faith in Solarwinds tech support. There doesn't seem to be any sense of urgency in helping me fix my problem despite talking to both U.S. and International support managers.

Solarwinds, yep, you dropped the ball on this one - BIG TIME!

After upgrading from 11.5 to 12.1, I had no tabs. After working through a few of the above mentioned fix actions and KB articles, the developers finally came back and had me remove the NPM website from IIS and re-run the configuration wizard. I then had tabs at the top. Note: I backed up the Website before I removed it. The Website pulls from the database, so the risk from deleting the website is minimal, although you may have to go back and apply site specific security settings to which you previously had configured.

Running through IIS configuration, changing SSL Settings to 'Require SSL' caused my tabs to disappear. Unchecking 'Require SSL' brings back the tabs.

What do you have in your websites table? (on the server, using the Database Manager)

Can you share the content of the table?

Enable SSL connections on Windows Server 2012

It might be that parts of the app are using SSL, and other parts are not. with the ISS settings you're forcing IIS to use SSL, when bits of the APP are unavailable using that!

My table reads as described above. However, SSL settings should be configured as 'Required' and '128bit', however doing so breaks tabs within the website. It would seem to me, this means Solarwinds needs to fix this with code. But thank you for your insight.

We was having a similar issue and what seems to have solved it is the IIS settings where he set it to the correct certificate for the website. We are using server 2012 R2

We just have

Type HTTPS

Port 443

and IP address set

and the SSL certificate set

This one worked for me. I had a fresh install of 12.2. It's been nothing but problems. I just called NPM support and waited on hold for 42 minutes, found this thread while I was waiting. No one ever answered.

Glad to hear it, as for Solarwinds phone call, I find the best to email tech support set the priority to what you think it is and you tend to get a reply within a reasonable amount of time. Also We go through a reseller Kenson in the UK who are very helpful and do first line.
