I am looking into a way to monitor/alert/report data circuit interfaces. During an outage, Our metro ethernet and MPLS interfaces do not go down (status is up not down), they just stop receiving data. I was looking for an alert method by traffic flow or the lack of it maybe using bits per second. If anyone has done this please share some ideas I would appreciate it.
