Chart Sample Interval
BakerD
Is there a way to change all charts to use a sample period of 5 minutes? I see how to do it on individual charts, but I don't want to have to do them all that way unless I have no other choice.
Thanks

Each Time Period has it's own set of default Sample Intervals.
For example :
"Past Hour" has a sample interval of 10 minutes
"Last 2 Hours" has a sample interval of 10 minutes
"Today" has a sample interval of 30 minutes
"Yesterday" has a sample interval of 30 minutes
"Last 7 days" has a sample interval of 1 hour
Last 30 days" has a sample interval of 6 hours
and so on ....
In order to change the sample interval for each chart in each View, you will need to use the "Custom Chart" resource in the View and then customize the resource (by selecting the edit button in the upper right corner of the resource title bar) and set the sample interval to 5 minutes.

I see where I can individually change each chart to the sample rate I want, but I am looking to either make the default sample to 5 mins or be able to change all my current charts to 5.
I have looked up and down, in the admin section, under Customize Views and don't see a "Custom Chart" option.
I am looking for an easy way to say change all devices using the response time graphs to have a sample rate of 5 minutes so I don't have to hit each device and change that chart that way. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks

Ah nevermind, I see now that if I change a chart on one device it changes it for all devices.

I'm having this same problem. I can see where to change it on a per view basis, but not on a permanent basis. I'm looking to change the default on the graph's. Is this the same? If so, I don't have a edit button on them.

I've actually added my own customized chartview buttons, so that I can view the past 90 days or 12 months without having to mess with the drop down boxes.
I'm sure you can do the same for viewing the graphs with 5 minute intervals selected:
Here's the custom resource I use on the Node details page to replace the Latency graph:
www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp
Then I edited the resource.asp file found in this location;
...\inetpub\solarwinds\netperfmon\scripts directory.
Most of it is encrypted, but you can find the cleartext with the 7 day & 30 day view.
I just copied & pasted the 30 day view paragraph, twice, underneath the 30 day view section(including the encryted text). Then I edited it to add a 90 day and then a 365 day button (I created the associated gif for each of these as well).
Now I can view the historical data with one click for ANY graph, including CPU, Memory, Utilization, etc. I also customized the time periods used so that 90 days uses 12 hour & 30 days uses 2 hour intervals for finer detail of the spikes.
I can post the text if anyone wants it.
