Howdy,
This is kind of a strange question. It seems that anything that I try to monitor just with an ICMP ping shows up as a Wireless Controller on the page.
I don't really see a way to change that. What am I missing?
Thanks,
Dan
This can also be changed from the web console.
Setting-->Views by Device Type--Unknown
Hi Mr. Wick,
Same here with me, I used to add devices which are ICMP only and when I access their Node Details page and it says Wireless Controller. I don't know if this is a bug, and haven't asked support if it is.
Anyways, you can change this by accessing SQL or via SolarWinds Database Manager, going to your NPM DB and access the ViewByDeviceType table. As you can see there, there is a view ID for every device type. You just change the view id of all unknown devices (ICMP) and make it the same with a Cisco router/switch if that's what you prefer, which is commonly "2" (Wireless controllers are normally 10). Just make sure you choose Read-Write before refreshing the query dialog in DB Manager so you can edit it. Then you are good to go
Hi Sirpaw,
Same issue here, thanks for the workaround suggestion, but i hope SW will fix this in a future release. I would not like to go into the DB everytime a node has been added.
