Need to alert on 2 devices down with a common property

Question

I have a large number of remote locations with each one having two routers. I want to do two things: (1) set up a resource on my home page that shows only those locations that have BOTH routers down at the same time, and then, (2) alert when the same is true.

Any ideas on how I can do these two things?

you can set the alert up like this and it would alert you. using the above - using groups for each site you have.

If you have access to monitor their interfaces (depends how they have ben set up) you could perhaps use them to monitor both at the same time.

You are correct

1) For the display part: create a SQL report to show the combined status of the dual nodes per site

2) Use the same time of query to create a sql trigger

I would definitely go a step further and use custom properties to make this easier.    With method would be to set up a SQL trigger on node update to auto-populate the custom properties which should simplify the reporting and alert SQL trigger.

You could use groups for this. So create a site specific group and put both routers in there. Then report on when the group is down.
