Microsoft RRAS Always On Monitoring in NPM

Question

Hello Solarwinds Experts, Server team are realizing RRAS is mostly networking, rather than server appliance and looking for network team to monitor it. I'm looking for a piece of advice on how to monitor Windows RRAS (Routing and Remote Access Service) for Always On VPN scenario. At our disposal, we got NPM without any extras like SAM. This post outlines most of the GUI monitoring options Always On VPN RRAS Monitoring and Reporting | Richard M. Hicks Consulting, Inc. On the top there are couple PowerShell commands:

PS> Get-RemoteAccessConnectionStatisticsSummary  

PS> Get-RemoteAccessHealth  
PS> Get-RemoteAccessHealth -Cluster  



It is not clear if any of RRAS stats are available via SNMP. I do not have RRAS server to test mib-walk and this document [MS-RRASM]: Routing and Remote Access Server (RRAS) Management Protocol | Microsoft Docs does not clarify the situation.



It seems like there are some valuable stats are captured and ready to export. However, the question is how to graph it in NPM. The most obvious choice seems like PowerShell. But from the past experience, I learned it is not easy to get any non-SNMP data into NPM.

Can you please share some good leads if custom polling with PowerShell is the way to pursue or this is a dead-end? Any other suggestions are welcome.

We are trying to monitor this too, have you had any success using Solarwinds (or any other tools) since you posted this.

I am afraid I don't have anything to offer back at the moment but if and when i do i will post here.
