Dell Powerconnect switches and SNMP3 example configuration?

Hello there.

Excuse me wandering straight in and starting with a question , but at least I've had a play with the search function and failed to find anything first.

I'm using an Orion V9 server to monitor a selection of Dell switches (specifically the Powerconnect 6248) which are just fine using SNMP V2 , but I now need to switch to SNMP V3 which is new to me.

I can see the fields I need to complete in Orion but this doesn't correspond well to the CLI on my Dells so I was wondering if anyone had got this combination working and would be able to provide a sample config so I can see where I'm going wrong.

I dont have a 6000 series Dell but i have a cli based system that should hopefully be similar to yours.

For snmpv3 you will need to configure:

-engine-id  -  choose default and it will be based of your mac address

-group

-user

-view  -  i have system chosen here but it will also take oid values

#snmp-server engine local default

#snmp-server group group v3 auth read read-group write write-group

#snmp-server user user group auth-md5 password

#snmp-server view view system included
