NPM 12.5 Database Maintenance showing failed.

Hi,

Since upgrading to NPM 12.5 our nightly database maintenance is failing due to not being able to delete the JET*.TMP files from the \WINDOWS\TEMP folder due to the files being locked by the Trap / Syslog Services.

In the Database Maintenance log near the top, there is a setting that states that the 'Daily removal of JET files is set to TRUE'

Is there anyway to switch this setting off.

I have had a look at the Database-Maint.exe-config file and I cannot see anything within this that mentions this.

Nor have I found anything in the webconsole under polling settings etc that remotely looks like this.

Or other standalone instance of NPM doesn't have this issue, however it is still running NPM 12.1 for the time being.

So is this check something new as part of NPM 12.5 and how can I set it to false to enable the nightly database maintenance to not report as failed.

I raised the issue with support and they have advised that this is a known bug that they are aware of.

They have also advised that even though it is possible to change this setting like dgsmith80 has said, they don't recommend this, so i guess for now i will just have to live with the issue until its resolved.

I would run the Orion permission checker and make sure you have access to that folder and how do you know it's being blocked by syslog/traps?

I know the files are being locked by the traps/syslog service as when i stop these services the JET*.tmp files get removed from the WINDOWS\TEMP folder.

On restarting these services the JET*.tmp file re-appear.

Its not practical to have these services stopped for the duration of the database maintenance, nor should i need to.

The fact that the actual database maintenance has a reference saying that 'Daily reomval is set to True' then you surely must be able to alter this.

I get the need for this check to ensure that the directory doesn't fill up, but i'm already checking this directory via SAM Orion Poller template so i know when i would need to delete these files manually anyway.

I will run the permission checker anyway, but i'm not sure thats the issue here though.

I have both of those services running and my DB Maint completes without an error.

I'm not sure it is recommended to change it, but you can change the flag directly in the Database in order to help you get DB Maintenance to complete while you investigate.

In the Table called Settings - SettingID = DailyRemoveTemporaryJetFiles > Current Value = 1

UPDATE Settings SET CurrentValue = '0' WHERE SettingID = 'DailyRemoveTemporaryJetFiles'
