Can anyone help me with this. I need to create a custom alert to trigger if a device reboots 3 times in a 24 hour period trigger an alert.
Does anyone know if this is possible.
I could not seem to find a way in the Advanced alerts to accomplish this. This is when I started playing around with Windows Event forwarder (You can ask for this for free by emailing sales@solarwinds.com) I then had the Windows Event Forwarder send its events to Orion's SysLog Server. I defined a rule that said when I recieved a specific Windows Event after a reboot from the host 3 times in a 24 hour window to send me an email. Seems to work great!

I am looking to do this for a cisco router or an hp switch so while I love the idea it won't exactly work for our needs. I wonder if I can do something similar however with the SNMP traps.
Yeah it shouldnt be any different. Either make a rule for a specific trap, or syslog to alert you after 3 messages within a 24 hour time frame.
