Problems with SNMP

Question

I'm in the process of setting up my servers to work with NPM and was able to install/configure SNMP on all of the servers without a problem, except for my Exchange Server. When trying to add SNMP, I get stopped when SNMP starts 'Copying files...' There is an error message that indicates a file can't be copied (the file changes each time I start over) and I'm prompted to insert the proper CD for Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.

I've inserted every version of Windows 2003 that I have and even downloaded several additional ones from Microsoft, but nothing has worked. Googling the error hasn't been any help, does anyone have any suggestions of what else I can try? While I would prefer to stay with Microsoft's SNMP client, I would consider trying a different SNMP client.

First things first, make sure you downloaded the Server 2003 Enterprise with SP2 cd, if you didn't then try that (are you R2 or not, make sure it's the correct disk) then point the browse window to the CD drive...

If that doesn't work and you are 100% sure you have the correct CD, your problems could be more serious than just not being able to install SNMP :(

The message appears while trying to install SNMP, when the status of the install changes to Copying Files...

The error message changes each time, but the basic message is:

The file ***** on Service Pack 2 CD-Rom is needed.
Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.

Enter in the path to the i386 folder or putting the proper CD then generates the following message:

Setup cannot copy the file *****
Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert 'Service Pack 2 CD-ROM' in the drive you specify.

The file that needs to be copied changes and also the CD the computer is looking for will either same Service Pack 2 or Windows 2003 Enterprise Endition. I have tried all the CDs I have and have tried a download of 2003 Enterprise with Service Pack integrated.

What is the exact error you are getting? Which file(s) cannot be copied?
