Alerts for Custom Pollers

Hi,

Running Orion v9, I have created a custom poller to monitor environmental temperate in computer rooms (using APC kit), which is collecting information successfully.

However I can't find a way to create a basic or advanced alert that is triggered by the data collected. The alert config screen seems to be all about node up/down, packet loss, utilitization etc etc, none of which I care about. I want to know when my computer room hits 24C !!

Any help would be appreciated.

Dear adelgigs,

Hope I remember it correctly, and if someone can help, please post a figure about that since I not yet re-installed the Orion again after the trial.

After pull down the top of the trigger tab, there will be Node, Interface, Volume, Custom Node Pollers, etc

After Select "Custom Node Pollers"<--something like this, you can choose "Poller Name", "Status", something like that when you adding conditions.

According to your post, if the names are temp and humidity, the following is something you need to set

FYI, copy from the post suggested by Yann

Poller name can be selected under Custom Node Pollers > Poller Name

Poller Status can be selected under Custom Node Pollers > Status.

alert1:

The trigger condition like this:

Trigger Alert when all of the following apply

Poller Name is equal to temp

Poller Status is greater than 24

And the reset condition like this:

Trigger Alert when all of the following apply

Poller Name is equal to temp

Poller Status is less than or equal to 24

alert2:

The trigger condition like this:

Trigger Alert when all of the following apply

Poller Name is equal to humidity

Poller Status is greater than XX

And the reset condition like this:

Trigger Alert when all of the following apply

Poller Name is equal to humidity

Poller Status is less than or equal to XX

hi there,

just a quick reply.... if you jump back into the advanced alerting, and click the pulldown at top of the trigger tab, you will see node, interface and then a couple of custom poller options. select the custom node poller, and then add 2 simple conditions, one of them will be "name=" and you will be able to select the custom poller by name, then the second will be value>24 etc.

see how you get on (i do this for chassis temp on cisco switches)

Getting closer but not quite there. I've got the custon poller pull down, but I can't see where I can select a specific poller. In this case I have two pollers assigned to the same node (temp and humidity).

Hi Adelgigs,

Do you use APC Network Managment Care with Enviormental Monitor for monitoring your computer rooms temp? If Yes, could you please provide me with either the poller or the mib for reading the temp.

Hi Ali,

I'm using a combination of APC Environmental Management modules AP9319, AP9340, AP9341

The temp OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.10.3.13.1.1.3

The humidy OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.10.3.13.1.1.6

I am still having a problem with the humidity data returned, as it returns a table of 3 data element. I'm not use how to extract a single data element from the table. I'll post a new thread for that.
