Cisco ASA SSL Poller Support?

All,

I've created (and uploaded) a poller that displays the currently active number of SSL Tunnels on your ASA. It looks good as far as the poller itself, however when I try to run the poller I get an OID Unsupported. We're running 5520's in 8.0.4 which is the latest and greatest, so you'd think it would be supported.

Could someone else with ASAs give it a go and let me know what happens..

We have 5550's running 8.0(4)3 I have the same Custom poller running works fine and its the same OID as yours... So its not your custom poller

Maybe it is in fact not support, but the bugfix version you're running does...

Hmmmmm...

I'll have to play around a bit to see if it's a version thing or not..

Yup, it's a code issue!

I upgraded a 5505 to 8.0.4(23) Interm release and now I'm able to get a response from the poller!

Unfortunately we can't install this on our Production 5520's but at least we know that it'll work when we actually do the upgrade..

I am new to Orion, and have installed this poller. I think I have it assigned to our ASA5520, but I dont know how to get that section added to the veiw. I looked at the custom view options but didnt see it.

Any tips for a noob?

When I apply this UDPoller to my ASA 8.0(4)28 appliances it doubles the actual counts. If I have 2 SSL VPN users logged in, the UDPoller reports 4. This is also true of the crasNumSessions UDPoller that is intended to report remote access VPN sessions. For each one, the value stated is double.

The whole ASA MIB structure seems in flux. Version 8.0(4)23 uses cipSecGlobalActiveTunnels but not crasNumSessions. ASA Version 8.2(2) uses crasNumSessions but not cipSecGlobalActiveTunnels. seems to use neither.

Does anyone have MORE DETAIL on explaining these various MIBs than what is provided in the MIB structure itself? Some of the explanations are rather sparse. What's the best way to count LAN to LAN sessions, remote user sessions, and how many are maximum possible for each? Is crasMaxSessionsSupportable a maximum or EITHER/OR?

im quite new in this NPM. im also now need to monitor the ssl vpn connections. just wonder, which resources do you choose to create the table as above with the username ,last polled , etc. ?

hope you guide us on this
