GAP in Average Response Time View

I happened to look at the average response time view today and notice that most of my devices have gaps in the response time polls. I also looked at the chart view and it shows some polls with no values. Is this normal, I view utilization on my Solarwinds box and it looks fine. My network is not suffering any bottlenecks as these devices are connected over 10GB trunks.

I have seen this as well, and it turns out not to be gaps but the response time in the "gaps" is <1ms.

No, gaps in your charts isn't normal. How many elements are you polling and how many polling engines do you have? Are you running SQL on a separate server or are is SQL installed on your Orion server? Typically, gaps in your data is due to the SQL server not keeping up with the polled data. Orion generates a ton of read/write traffic to the SQL database. If you're polling too many elements for the polling engine or if you are polling quite a few elements and you're running SQL on your Orion server, chances are the database can't keep up with the amount of data Orion is trying to write to the database. Yes, we have about 900 devices being monitored. The sql server is separate from the Orion box. I will take a look at the link and let you know. Thanks.
