Please, I´d like know if can I run a Orion NPM 9.1 poller and a NPM 9.5 poller (sharing load)
1 Orion 9.1 poller
1 Orion 9.5 poller
1 database server
or need I upgrade 9.1 poller to 9.5 ?
You'll want to update that other poller to 9.5 as well. There are a significant number of difference between 9.1 and 9.5 and there will be problems if they aren't kept in sync.
Now I'm with 2 NPM 9.5 pollers and the DB server.
Which steps need I follow to make a load balance with these 2 pollers ?
Today I have 10000 elements in poller 1 . How divide this load ?
Thanks
Hi contracer--
Have you already read the "Using the Polling Engine Load Balancer" section of the Orion NPM Administrator Guide?
http://www.solarwinds.com/support/Orion/docs/OrionAdministratorGuide.pdf
I think it has what you are looking for. I'd love to hear you feedback as to whether the info is helpful to you and if it isn't, any suggestions you might have for making it better.
Many thanks,
M
I didn´t found Polling Engine Load Balancer in addicional components area.
Need I buy this component ?
Hi Contracer--
You do not need to buy the Polling Engine Load Balancer. It comes with Orion NPM. Select it by going:
Start>SW Orion>Advanced Features>Monitor Polling Engines
Then select Servers>Poller Load Balancing.
Now if you don't have two pollers to load balance, you will have to purchase an additional one, which can be done here:
http://www.solarwinds.com/products/orion/scalability/polling_engine.aspx
Hope this helps you. Please let me know.
Thanks a lot.
Reading Orion NPM Manual, I found this:
You can copy them over at any time. As soon as you copy them over, you should see them as fields on the Edit Properties view for any managed node (Click Admin > Click Manage Nodes > Select a managed node > Click Edit Properties).
