Adding nodes and interfaces via the Orion (or any) web interface

Question

Has anybody been successful in creating a page to add nodes into Orion using a web interface? In order for engineers in a large environment to add the device to be monitored it needs to be easy and fast for them to add devices. Remoting into the server to do this is every time is a tough sell. The ideal outcome would be to have an end user provide an ip address and community string and then the node and every interface on it is automatically added.

This is in the works for SW I think but not ready anytime soon.  Why is it a tough sell to remote into the server to add devices?  How often are you adding/deleting/changing devices?  We have over 700 nodes and using a terminal server session isn't a big deal.

There are about 3000 nodes that would have to be added to the device and at ~5 minutes per node to discover, select, and add the nodes it would be nice if there was a quick add web interface that would queue all that stuff up in the background and only need the ip and community string to automatically discover a device and select all the interfaces(up or down). just typing in that info and clicking a submit button should only take ~1 minute. While it's not a deal breaker the automation certainly would make things easier.

when you have over 10,000 nodes, it is a big deal...

I agree, it shouldn't be a big deal to add nodes via a terminal session but it also shouldn't be a big deal to make this available through the web interface.
