How do I add nodes like printers to the ignore list?
See below on how to accomplish this
Scheduled results. A manual, scheduled discovery only finds network elements, but does not automatically start monitoring. You must select what you want the system to monitor. If the scheduled job locates nodes that you do not want to monitor, select those nodes and click Add to Ignore List. Ignoring hides elements from the results list the next time the discovery job runs.
Advanced discovery in the Orion Platform
I opened manage nodes and selected the nodes I want to ignore and there is no option to "ignore" them
You can unmanage nodes you have added to keep them from being polled. If an ignore list has been used in a discovery, the items in it will not be added as nodes to Orion. You can't manage or unmanage what you haven't added.
If you would like polling to occur and you need availability data for a period of time, you can mute alerts. If you have a scheduled outage and things are expected to be unable to respond, you might instead choose to unmanage. This will prevent unanswered polls and an impact to availability metrics.
What is your definition of ignore? Is it that you wish to monitor a node but not be alerted on it? Or is it that you don't want a node to show up in the discovery process?
don't want it to show up on discovery
You can use the 'Discovery Ignore List' feature within discovery as suggested by @neomatrix1217:
3 options.Go to manage nodes page>> click on "Maintenance Mode".
1.Either Unmanage them to save Polling load.
2. Or use Mute alerts option- so status will be recorded but alerts wont be seen.
3. If you have hugelist of Nodes, use network discovery, add everything. Later you can go to "Manages nodes">>Group by Vendor- We can easily identify Printer Vendors & take a collective Ignore action(1 or 2)
After I selected the Unmanage" I could not tell if the printer was Unmanaged. How do you know if a node is managed or not?
As mentioned, all you need to do is add it to the ignore list in the discovery window. It won't be discovered again.
You can create a widget for it.

There's also some other threads on Thwack that are more fancy than the above option.
