View multiple nodes with 1 Interface in 1 page

Hi Solwarwinds,

I have a new task for my new live setup.

My manager wants me to create one account with a view different to my current users.

This account will view the following:

router A FastInterface0/0

router B FastInterface0/0

router C FastInterface0/0

router D FastInterface0/0

all in the one home page using the resources called "Min/Max/Average bits per second" under Interface Charts - Historical Charts for a Single Interface when adding resources to a custom view.

I notice that under Account Manager then edit accounts, the Default Network Device will only allow me to pick one router. Is there a way around this cause custom pages should be dynamic when it comes to creativity.

I think that you only need to specify a default network device if the default view home page is set to "node details" or "interface details". If you are looking for multiple interfaces you can set your view to summery, for example, and then manage the limitations using the account manager. You can then set the account limitation to only allow a selected set of interfaces. If I understand the issue correctly, I think the following will work:

· Create new Summery View

· Add your 4 Interfaces to Monitor in 2 Columns

· Limit Account in Account Manager to Group of Interfaces

· Create new Menu Bar with only the Custom Menu

· Set Home Page View to Custom Page

the only way I can think to do this is by writing some very simple custom HTML using frames. put a view into each frame. then point that user's page to the custom HTML page set up.
I'm sure there is a better way, but...

I think what you are looking for is a custom view. If you go to Manage Views, you can create a 2 column view with each node or interface you are looking to monitor, 2 to a side. Then you can add the frames suggested by the previous poster and deep link into the interface you want to watch. An example would look something like this:

You can still add any limitations you like to the login account for security purposes, and this custom page can be set to be the default and only option available to this user.

Thanks for your prompt replies. Much appreciate it.

The custom HTML is great, now the problem is that under Account Manager -> Edit Account, the Default Network Device will only allow me to put one node. It will not allow me to pick my custom view with picking a default device. If I leave this blank, I get a warning "Default Network Device is not selected. You can't choose this view as Home Page".

or you can work with custom properties...

create a custom report which will display all interfaces with that custom property and show the node corresponding to it...

you wont have much graphical gadgets except for the colored up/down spots but at least its customized plus you can integrate the report into almost any view

Just give them an Icon or Bookmark with a direct link to the page they are supposed to see.
