Changing IP address of a node causes Name to be reset

Question

In Orion, I have customized all my nodes with names such as:

4.13.2.2 Blackmon WS-C3560G-48PS

The dotted number (4.13.2.2) is not an IP address, but rather a numerical value to control how nodes are sorted.

If I change the IP address of the node, Orion changes the name to the serial number of the device, such as FOC1323Z42W, which I'm assuming is the "System Name".

Therefore, everytime I change an IP address, I have to go back and change the name too.  Is there a way to prevent this behavior?

I have the same problem.  Aftering adding a node for the first time, I change the Node name to something friendlier than our server hostname standard naming rules.

When the servers IPs are readdressed, Solarwinds defaults back to the system hostname and removes my Friendly name.

Thanks for your suggestions, njoylif.  This seems like a bug to me.  I think it would be better if SolarWinds changed the behavior of the program to leave the name field as is when changing the IP address of a node that already exists.

Everytime I change an IP address I have to wait for Orion to update the name field back to "system name", edit it again and change it back to what is was originally...very annoying and time consuming.
