??? marks on interface

Hi,
i'm getting too much interfaces (both switch ports or servers NICs) turning into ? marks and then Orions doesn't collect info for them. (see attached screenshots)

upgrade to Ver 8 doesn't help.

it seems to me that the problem is not consistent - i mean that sometimes some ports show ?, later one they become OK. and vice versa.

pls advise.

I had this issue last week and found that I was running an older version of Orion v.8. I upgraded to the 8.0.1 and the issue was resolved.

I previously had 8.00 - December 2006 (System Manager 8.0.103).

I upgraded to 8.0.1 - December 2006 (System Manager 8.0.113).

I also received instructions from tech support that unmanaging the device the remanaging it may resolve this proble, although it did not fix my issue.

Check the interfaces and make sure the interfaces have the right version of SNMP assigned. If the device only talks SNMP v1 but it's assigned to SNMP v2, then you might see this problem. Some interfaces were incorrectly assigned during the 8.0 upgrade.

I have the same issue. It was monitoring a Cisco switch fine and the all the interfaces turned to? it also does not show it as Cisco switch anymore. I tried deleting it and reading the switch and still does not recognize it as a Cisco switch

We are having similar problems here as well. We converted all our cisco devices to snmpv3 and now whenever those devices reboot the interfaces go to unknown status and basically the orion snmp poller stops working on the device. I didnt see this behavior on our test machine with a few devices so this might be another scalability issue with orion. I found 2 ways to fix, you can either restart the polling engine to get the interfaces back and snmp polling working on the device or convert the node back to snmpv1 and rediscover and then change it back to snmpv3. I am using the latest version of Orion 8.0.1

I am having the same issue with snmpv3. I was told by Tech Support that this is a known issue with snmpv3 and that it will be fixed in Orion V8.1. Does anyone know when Orion V8.1 will be released? I would hate to go back through and change all of my routers and switches back to snmpv1/v2 if it will be released soon.
