Unmanaging multiple nodes on Orion V7
FormerMember
How can I select multiple nodes to unmanage at one time? I had to go into 78 nodes today individually and Right Click/Node Details/Unmanage. This was due to a partial network outage at a location and wanted to remove SNMP traffic while the outage was repaired. I am curious if there is some sort of mass modify option to allow for this.

It's not a simple task either, and I really don't recommend doing it for so few nodes. If the repair takes longer than expected (exceeds the unmanaged time) you'll have to repeat the process.
To answer your question though: You would have to stop all polling engines and manually modify the DB. Above the fact that manually modifying the DB carries the same risks and warnings as editing your windows registry file, when you stop the polling engines you are losing data for
all
nodes.
Depending on your polling frequency (ICMP) and your rediscovery / stat collection intervals (SNMP) the traffic generated by Orion should not be overwhelmingly large...
I would think that you would want to know if the repair was 100% complete, therefore leaving them managed would give you the best indication. Best option: Leave them alone during the outage.
