Question: remote php connect to NPM database

Hello,

Very simple question, hope for some startup help.

How do i connect from a remote debian box, with php, to a Orion NPM (using ODBC?)

and collect all nodes and there IP's? any have some simple php code they can share ? any changes needed to made on the

MsSQL DB for remote connection?

PHP has a built in method for connecting to MS SQL databases, here is a snippet of PHP code as an example:

//connection to the database
$dbhandle = mssql_connect($myServer, $myUser, $myPass)
or die("Couldn't connect to SQL Server on $myServer");

//select a database to work with
$selected = mssql_select_db($myDB, $dbhandle)
or die("Couldn't open database $myDB");

//declare the SQL statement that will query the database
$query = "SELECT id, foo, bar ";
$query .= "FROM foobar ";
$query .= "WHERE foo=''bar";

//execute the SQL query and return records
$result = mssql_query($query);

$numRows = mssql_num_rows($result);
echo "<h1>" . $numRows . " Row" . ($numRows == 1 ? "" : "s") . " Returned </h1>";

//display the results
while($row = mssql_fetch_array($result))
{

You will need to open your database to the web server and you will need to craft your SQL query the way you want it. This works as an example, however, I would create a stored procedure for the query and have the script call that.

Hey,

Thanks for your help.

Seem i am missing something here. NPM setup is default but keep getting this error with this query:

$query = "SELECT Nodes.NodeID from Nodes.NodeID";

Warning: mssql_query(): message: Invalid object name 'Nodes.NodeID'. (severity 16)

Have any info on this? $myDB = "NetPerfMon"; is set
