Custom Printer Polling problem
SupportDK
Hi there..
I am testing a problem in NPM v8 for a customer that i can't get on with:
I've added a Copier (Konica Minolta C250) as a node , and made a custom polling on OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.43.18.1.1.8. - there is no Enterprise OID that matches this machine, though i have got the copiers MIB on file (but cannot add it to the list)
This works fine when testing with Get-Next, and the status for the copier is given (Cover Open, Toner Low etc.)
But when the copier is Ready/Idle it reports that "The OID is not supported)
With SNMP Probe, i have found out that the PrtAlert only exsists on the machine when an alert is given, and when the problem is solved and the copier is Idle, obviously CustomPoller cannot update status.... - because the entry is not present anymore.
So the status on the webpage is still the error, because of the failed attempt to update the status.
Is there a way to define, that when the status = "The OID is not Supported" the status should be "Online" ??
I know it is kind of a crappy way to solve it, since status could be both Online and Offline but i would guess it's the easiest way out
)
Please help
) - and merry christmas to all.

I would recommend contacting Konica with this issue. In general, polling a particular OID with SNMP should always yields some type of value if that SNMP agent has yielded a value for that OID at some point in the past. The behavior that you are describing essentially means that the OID is disappearing from that device's MIB tree when there is not an alert message available. This appears to be a bug in the printer's SNMP agent.
