Creating a Range for a Custom Chart

Question

I have created a report with a custom chart showing the RSSI for a group of radios.  My boss wants the chart to have a static range from -20dB to -90 dB but the data range is dynamic based on the data and I can't see a way to change it.  Can this be done or is the chart always dynamic?

alexander.kneer​ Actually, after double checking, you can simply use the "Custom HTML" widget within the report, and build it that way.

This way should allow you to utilize just about any method available out there to build a custom graph/chart. The downside, so to speak, you will need to make/adjust/tweak the script to fit your needs.

alexander.kneer​ I'm not sure there is a way, other than possibly tricking the system via the method from wex​, to adjust the min/max for charts on a per chart basis. I believe you can make some changes to the charts under the hood, but that's usually not supported, and could possibly lead to making a mess. Outside of a report, you can definitely use the HTML widgets to build graphs/charts with a bit of JavaScript. There are tons of examples out here on THWACK.

Are you needing this specifically/exclusively within reports?

If this is a custom SQL/SWQL statement then I have a wrong answer for you.

Union static values of -20 and -90, that should pry your chart open to those values.

Hopefully someone else comes along and tells you the right way to do it, but for now, this might make the boss happy.
