How to modify hostnames using SQL query?

Hi - I hope this is the right forum for this question. I have a mixed bag of "hostnames" in my orion npm database. Some contain associated domain names and others do not. The device hostname is the important part. Can someone provide guidance on how to update the node names en mass in the database as opposed to doing them manually one by one? I would like to change hostname.domain.ext to just hostname so ".domain.ext" would be stripped. Thank you for any help!!

update nodes set caption=REPLACE(caption, '.domain.ext', '')

No worries! I'm here to help. To get to the NPM space, follow these screen shots:

Click on the Forums & Spaces tab at the top of the page:

On the menu, click on Network Management, then Orion Network Performance Monitor:

And you'll end up in the NPM space. To follow everything that goes on in the NPM space, simple click on the green Follow button:
