Service Unavailable

Question

Hi;

I just installed Orion NPM but when I try to get into the web console I just get a "Service Unavailable" error.  I am getting the following error in IIS.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

After reading this post, I tried re-installing SP2 since I have the same problem with urlrewrite/dll not loading. Unfortunately, it didn't resolve the problem for me.

I was a problem with Win2003 SP2 and IIS.  I have found that if I try to add IIS after installing SP2 it has a really hard time finding the files that it needs.  I askes me to put insert the SP2 CD then it askes for the Win2003 CD.  Some of the files are not in either place and I have to look on the hard drive to find them, i.e. the IIS install is Klugy.

Eventually I thought to reinstall SP2 after the IIS install.  That did the trick.

Service Unavailable could mean that the IIS website or Application Pool is stopped. The line from the log points to the Application Pool. The Windows event log might have more information about why.

In my experience, the most common cause for Orion's application pool to be stopped is if the application pool identity (you can check this in the IIS management snapin) can't read \Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\urlrewrite.dll. However, there are many possible causes.
