What is wrong with advanced alerts?

Question

What the **** is wrong with advanced alerts. I have upgraded to 8.01 December 2006. And it is just impossible to use advanced alerts. nothing works. And I can´t say it worked any good when it was beta but now it is catastrophic.

I want to create a rule where it triggers if a custom poller is not showing status 0.

Impossible!!!!!!! Pheeewwwww....................

The procedure suggested by amata is useful in the event that the problem is caused by a failure of the advanced alert service to start.  But he needs .net 2.0 framework.

If that is dancoh's problem, it might help.  If that's not the problem, it won't have any effect.

I understand that much, but what does name resolution or certificate revocation have to do with the advanced alerting engine?quote:

For starters please make sure that .Net Framework 1.1 is installed on this machine. If so, please make sure that DNS and WINS are both configured properly on this server. If this is good, please disable NetBIOS over TCP if it is not needed. Then disable the WinHTTP Proxy Service. It will be set for manual start, but just disable it as this is the best route to resolve this issue. If it still will not start after making these changes, please add the following entries to your Hosts file:

127.0.0.1 wpad
