Evenign all, is there a way to configure NPM, so that if the core switch becomes unavailable solarwinds doesnt report all of the subsequent connected switches wont report as having an issues

Yes, you can use Dependencies setup so that if the Parent Device fails, the Group of devices behind are set as Unreachable. You will want to setup the Group of devices you want to show as unreachable under Settings> Manage Groups. To setup the Dependency go under Settings> Manage Dependencies.
