What is the recommended method to shrink/prune the NetPerfMon.mdf database as its around 30Gb

We attempted to compact the via Solar Winds Database Manager but it only grew in size after completion??

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

You can truncate certain tables.

To determine which tables are the largest-

Go to Start> Programs> Solarwinds Orion> Advance Features> Database Manager

Once it opens and your database is connected. Look at your database tables to see which ones are excessively large and report back here.

look in <...>\SolarWinds\Orion\swdebugMaintenance.log and look for error messages. The system may be having an issue rolling up stats, I only say this because I had that happen once because the sql drive ran out of space.

To be sure, check out what table is your biggest hog (like mark said). (This screen shot was when my stats for APM were not rolling up right)

Nothing in the log files but attatched a screen grab of table sizes.

Ah, traps and syslog can EAT your space up. You might need to lower your retention length and/or setup filters to drop some of the messages coming in. This query might help you find out where the big talkers are.

SELECT [IPAddress], [tag], COUNT (*) as Count
FROM [NetPerfMon].[dbo].[Traps]
where datetime > dateadd(day,-1,getdate())
group by [IPAddress], [tag]
Order by COUNT desc

Thanks netlogix - as a quick fix can we just attempt to truncate them. Will this drop them in size? Presume this can be done from the db console.
