Sub-Interface no longer exists

Question

Hi we have a Cisco 7206 router with multiple sub-interfaces on a single physical interface. This morning Orion reported one of the sub-interfaces as missing so the data is no longer being tracked. This interface is still up and I can ping devices on the other side of the interface. All of the other sub-interfaces are still collecting data. I deleted the interface and re-added it to see if that would work, several hours later it is still not collecting data. when I poll thr router that it is on Solarwinds sees the interface and says it is valid it just won't collect data on it.

Any ideas?

See that's the wierd thing we didn't do anything to the router. It just all of a sudden sent an event saying that the interface was missing. Reloading the router is not viable because there are too many customers hanging on it.

We have seen some similar issues related to GRE tunnels, where if you delete and re-add them to the router config, they stop reporting via SNMP. Subsequently, the only way to resolve it is to reload the router. That's a bit different from your situation, but still weird none the less.
