Monitor ports behind ip address

I have multiple devices on my network that I wish to monitor the states of tcp ports- if they are alive and solarwinds can connect to them, they are considered up. If the ports do not respond, they are down and change the status of the node appropriately.

I have Solarwinds Orion and the 250 node license, is this possible? If not, is it a viable feature?

Not available in v7, but it might be in v8.

We are aware that this would be a popular feature. Unfortunately, we are unable to build all of the features that have been requested, and this feature will not be available in v8.

This feature is under consideration for the next major release, which we expect to ship some time n 2007.

I don't know of a way to do this with NPM, but APM can certainly handle monitoring TCP ports.
