Orion NPM Database

Question

I have a couple of questions to do with ORION Database.

a) I was wondering if it is possible to use separate databases for ORION Functions. To be more specific, we would like to keep, "syslog" data to a different database server than the "default" Database of ORION due to size / backup restrictions.

b) If you need to consolidate two Orion databases together is this possible?. Or at least could you export "nodes" and import them to a new database. Reason I am asking is that we have two departments that were using ORION NPM as demo and currently they need to migrate their settings (maps, nodes, views etc) on to a single server.

a) You would need to buy two Orion licenses:  Collect syslog in one and stats and status in another.  Use Orion Enterprise Operations Console to consolidate.

b) We don't formally support a merge, but if both are the same format, you could theoretically do it.  I would suggest you engage the services of a DBA.
