Alerting on UnDP that gives multiple values ?

All,

I'm messing around with the UnDP that gives the power consumption of the memembers of a 3750 stack (Thanks  billsardine!) along with alerting and I'm curious about something..

When you run the poller it'll query the stack and give you a reading of the power consumption of each of the stack members separated by commas:

315,200,15,320

etc,etc,etc..

I'd like to setup an alert that will tell me when any of those numbers gets above a certain threshold. Right now I have an alert setup that will query a standalone PoE switch and perform that function since you get a single value, but from what I can see there is noway to get the alerting engine to handle the multiple values it receives back from the poller..

Seems like a limitation, but I wanted to find out if anyone figured out a way around it.. ?

The one I currently have setup is:

1) Poller name is equal to pethMainPseConsumptionPower

2) Numeric Status is greater than or equal to 351

Ahhh.. You know what, it does seem to work.. For whatever reason when I was trying to use the Test Alert function it wasn't acting right, but when I try an actual alert it works!

I have an alert that accomplishes what you want.  I currently poll all of my HP servers for the status of all of the HD's inside the box. When the poller returns the values, it returns ok,ok...,ok  according to how many HD's are installed.  I have an alert that watches for anything not 'Ok' and sends me an alert.   I will admit that it's not a perfect solution because, for example, the email I receive says "... HD status has changed to ok,ok,failed,ok."  This would indicate a failure on the 3rd HD.

On my trigger conditions I have:

1. Poller Name is equal to P_Disk_Condition

2. Status is not equal to ok

Nothing fancy, but it works on all my hosts.  I don't know how Orion see's your 3750 stack, but if it treats it as one host then I don't see why this wouldn't work. Seems like all you need to is set the poller name and set the status greater or equal than XX.
