Part of our Network Team's responsibilities is to help our Communications Platforms (telephone staff) proactively prevent or discover VoIP issues based on information we glean from Solarwinds NPM about our Cisco switch ports.
We own VNQM but our Telecom team has avoided it.
Sometimes the Telecom folks as what extension goes with a particular switch port, and I'm stumped about how to help them out. I can see the node name, the slot & port number and info, the MAC address on the port, and the ARP info from the L3 gateway for its subnet.
But I don't have a tool that can discover the telephone number or extension of a phone plugged into one of my extensions.
Is there some application or product, Solarwinds or other, that can automatically discover the telephone number or extension for VoIP phones attached to Cisco switches?
Swift packets to anyone with a useful answer!
