Hi,
Is there any way to adjust packet loss percent in Orion ?
I have any interfaces with packet loss, and Orion doesn´t showing these events.
contracer,
I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to monitor. Orion measures packet loss at the node level between the Orion server and the node being monitored. At the interface level, Orion receives input and output errors and discards statistics via snmp for the interfaces you selected when you added the node to Orion's inventory. You could create an advanced alert to log to the Orion event log when any interface exceeds a certain number of errors or discards. You could also create an advanced alert that will log an event any time the packet loss between the Orion server and node exceeds a certain percentage.
Hope this helps! If that's not what you're trying to accomplish, let me know.
I have nodes in this state:
but Orion does not show this event:
Is there any way to fix this ?
You should be able to use an advanced alert to have an event logged to the event log. I believe there is a default advanced alert called "High Packet Loss Monitoring." It isn't enabled by default but that's the advanced alert you'll need to tweak to get events in the event log. Here's the description of the alert:
"Percent packet loss over the last few minutes. Packet loss is calculated from the number of ICMP packets that are dropped when polling the node. This alert will write to the SolarWinds event log when packet loss rises above 40% and when it drops back below 5%."
You can go into the trigger condition tab and change the percentage loss if you want the alert to trigger at a value different than 40%.
Hope this helps!
You would need to edit the built in advanced alert for packet loss. The screen shows 1% loss so you would need to set the trigger level to "greater than 0". This is a very low level and may result in a mass of alerts.
Kweise and Mcbridea,
Thanks a lot for yours answers.
I made a packet loss alert (triggering above 2% ), and now my Orion works
like we desire.
Regards.
