Logon Issue-Catalyst 6500
gbrance
Trying out the new Cirrus Configuration Management software. I built it's own account for it in TACACS. It can logon fine to Catalyst 4000 and 4500. However I am having it try to logon on our 6500's (720Sup-Hybrid) and it fails at banner. I can use the same account to telnet in fine from a Dos prompt. Has anybody else been able to get this product to work with their 6500's?
Thanks-GB

gbrance,
There is a release of Cirrus that has a problem with banners on Catalysts with IOS.
I believe that has been fixed and is in testing.

I got Cirrus to work fine on a 4500 Catalyst running IOS. I hope that the next release fixes the issue with a 6500.
Why is Cirrus requiring a logon to retrieve a config? The Network Engineering Tools can retrieve a config fine only using a read-write SNMP string. However whenever I tried to leave out a logon and only use a r/w SNMP string it would fail to D/L a config.

Greg,
SNMP config transfer is not supported in the current Cirrus release. The Engineer's Edition tools do supoport SNMP Upload/Download of Configs, but only for Cisco devices. Cirrus is designed to support many vendor's hardware. That said, there is a good chance we will add the Cisco specific SNMP upload/download to Cirrus.
At this time, we felt multi-vendor support, config change reports, device inventory, etc were higher priorities that Cisco specific SNMP upload/download.

Has the Cat Hybrid login been fixed yet? I'm have the same issue on my 6509.

I come across the same situation with my Catalyst 6009
Although there is no problem with a 4503 or a 5509

Would someone be willing to send me a trace of the failing login session for the cat 6500?
Send it to: Greg@solarwinds.net
P.S.
You can trace all telnet conversations in Cirrus by using the Debug Message Viewer from SysInternals, and placing a file named DebugTrace.on in the Program Files\SolarWinds\Common\ folder.

Thanks,

I have downloaded the 08-Nov version. After installation and do a add node. This time it says "login failed at banner"
Am I doing something wrong?

We are still having this type of problem, although ours is giving a Timed out error.

All,
Thanks so much for you help and feedback, I think most of the CatOS login issues have been solved with a patch dll that we have been sending out to individuals for testing. This patch will be in the next build, which will be going to testing shortly.
If you are still having login issues after the patch has been installed, or to get the latest version of the patch, (SWTelnet9.dll 11/11/2005, v9.0.0.1) please contact Josh@solarwinds.net.
(If an older patch is working for you, there is no need to get the latest).
Thanks again,
Greg
