How do I import Node properties from NPM->NCM in v5 ?

I tried creating a scheduled job to import Orion NPM nodes using the import scheduled job, but all that I ended up doing was creating a few hundred duplicate nodes until my license ran out.

I'm interested in replicating my custom properties from NPM to NCM automatically, be it from a SQL job or some other back end process.
Prior to v4, I used a custom SQL query (I think I posted it somewhere), but I'd like to avoid doing this if there is built in functionality.

What does the "Allow Orion Import" option do for a node? Is it worth looking into?

I'd like to import a large number of nodes as well, but I haven't gotten a chance to do it yet. I'm surprised to hear that NCM would allow you to import a duplicate node. I would think there would be an option to NOT import any duplicate nodes or IP addresses.

The import process pretty much deleted the current settings for all of my nodes. I tried "Allow orion import", but with zero documentation on what that feature -actually- does, i'm at a loss.

I'd really love to do a custom sql query to import/export nodes but it seems the database is too proprietary for me to leverage that.

I'd love to automatically synch nodes based on IP address/Caption from Orion->Cirrus and retain custom properties.

The "Import" feature basically broke the node backups. I have a 99% failure rate now and I don't know how to track this down. Go NCM. This new 'feature' does not work.

jp, this is really strange. We should only be overwritting attributes you explicitly mapped from Orion in the "Assign Import Columns" part of the wizard. Do you remember what you configured there? Also, do you know what specific attributes were overwritten that caused your backup to fail?

We definitely want to help you get to the bottom of this one.

I tried a few things.

Import: AgentIP, community, all of my custom properties.

I tried creating a property on Orion "ConfigFlag" similar to a previous module, tying that to Enable Orion Import. This didn't do anything.

I've tried enabling/disabling the "do not add nodes that already exist", and enabling/disabling the discovery options. When "Do not add nodes" is not selected, (inferring I want to update the custom properties and other node details), duplicate nodes are created.

I can't find any reliable way to select only certain nodes to be imported automatically into NCM from NPM.
