100% CPU

Question

I am running Orion NCM and NPM on the same box, it is Windows server 2003 running on a dual 3.20 GHz Intel Xeon with 4GB of RAM but the CPU is always at 100%. I was going to install NPM on a different server but want to make sure I can do that. Can I run the 2 apps on different boxes? They both connect to SQL 2005 databases so I figured I can just put the apps on different servers. Can anyone tell me if this is an acceptable config or not? Both applications need to be upgraded anyway so sepparating them now seems to make sense.

SWJobEngineWorker.exe is a part of Orion NPM, you may want to make sure that you are running the latest releases, if you still have the same issue, I would suggest opening a Support Ticket.

Thanks for the info, I do run SQL on a seperate box, when I look at the processes on the NPM/NCM box, it looks like it is the SWJobEngineWorker.exe taking up most of the resources, which is part of NCM so that's why I wanted to split them.

They can indeed run on separate boxes, I do just that.  However while NPM causes a pretty good load NCM is a lite weight.

What I am getting at is you may have other issues that moving NCM to another box will not fix.

The first thing is to run your SQL DB on a separate box unless you have a very small install.

If you are monitoring a lot of nodes you may need to split off to another poller.

It all really just depends.
