One of our engineers has asked me if it is possible to get the compliance report to give you all the detailed info in say excel so you don't have to click each individual violation to find out what it is telling you about the problem?

For exporting reports:
(Compliance -> (select) View Report -> Export)
As far as I know, you cannot include Description from Rule.
I suggest creation Rules with name describing violation, with proper Alert level (Informational, Warning, Critial)
In excel sheet you will get letters for those levels (I, W, C):
I don't know better way to simplify this.
