Cirrus v3 installation and setup w/SQL Express?

Question

In support of the US Army I'm trying to successfully install Cirrus v3 with SQL Express. Everything is installed locally in a VM running Windows 2003 stand alone. I have tried all the configurations I can think of with SQL authentication and Cirrus options during the Startup Wizard but I continue to receive a authentication error. I also need to install Orion and the Toolset on this same VM and run demos and samples for student labs next week!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome!  BTW, I meant to ask before, is there a reason why you're not running with the latest version of Cirrus (i.e. v4.0.1)?

That is correct and that did work; hostname\sqlexpress.

So, just to confirm, you have Cirrus v3 and SQL Express installed on the same machine and Windows integration authentication won't work to the local database?   If so, that seems strange if SQL Server Express is running and everything is local.  Have you check the SQL Server Express service to ensure it is running?  Are you entering "<machinename>\SQLEXPRESS" or "(local)\SQLEXPRESS" for the SQL Server when selecting a SQL Server database in startup wizard?   Are you able to connect to SQL Server Express using SQL Database Manager that ships with Cirrus?
