AWS on a NTA Repository?

Question

We are looking at installing a AWS, and we are hoping to install it on our existing NTA Repository.  Really just cause the amount of servers we have to manage is starting to get a bit large.

Is there any particular reason this wouldn't work? I can't really find anything on this type of install.

Any help/advise/documentation is welcomed.

You'll want to review the instructions in the NTA Administrator's Guide for documentation:

In order to install the Additional Web Server on the NTA Database you will need to install the NPM Additional Web Server first, then run the NTA installer again.

I would recommend against this for performance reasons as the primary reason to have a separate NTA server is to maintain a high level of performance to handle a potentially huge amount of flow data coming from your environment.

I also want to point out that due to the nature of the smart installer, the NTA installer will provide options based on what it detects is installed already.  I've never tested your scenario since I wouldn't view it as a best practice, so I don't know if the installer would see the Database pieces first and treat the install as a repair or upgrade or if it would even allow the Additional Web Server installation adding the NTA web bits to the console.

Just some food for thought.
