wrong host name in Syslog

We have a syslog server collecting logs from other servers using kiwi log forwarder. The host name from my DMZ machines often show up wrong. I have updated the Host file for the SysLog server but the problem is still there.

What is it showing up as? Are you using the evaluation/paid version or the free version?

Random internal network names are showing up as the Host name. This is a paid version.

I think we would need to dig into this issue further, could you please open a support ticket either online or via phone please?

bobt1962 Kiwi Syslog Server can contact DNS servers to do a reverse lookup for IP addresses, however, maintaining DNS server might me cumbersome sometimes and might produce incorrect results. (Happens to me most of the time) You may try reviewing your DNS records or might want to consider using Static cache entries feature in KSS as part of isolation.
