Cisco WLC 4400 series, upgrade to 5.2.x breaks Cattools get config script

Cisco has changed what is displayed with and how the Show Running-Config command works in the 5.2.x and above releases. My devices are only getting a partial backup of the running-config before the script times out and on my primary device, the whole process now times out and doesn't return any results at all. Running the command manually works fine.

Anyone able to help with this one?

Hi Russ,

Thanks for letting us know this. I have a couple of questions.

1) Which script are using ie. Cisco.Switch.IOS etc.?

2) When you issue the command manually how long does it take to complete?

3) Can you create a device capture for me I will look into the file to see if I can spot the problem. A device capture file records the communication between CatTools and the device you are having trouble with. You can create a device capture file as follows :

# Use the CatTools File menu to select the "Enable capture mode" option.
# Run the activity you are having trouble with. This should create a debug file in the \Debug folder.
# Zip up the resulting file and send this to me as an attachment.
# Remember to deselect the "enable capture mode" option again.

Please ensure that you *** out any sensitive information.

4) Can you also send a PuTTY capture of the command executing correctly manually. Again *** out any sensitive data.

1. Using Cisco.Wireles.LAN script

2. On the primary unit, it times out and does not complete, the secondary unit (which does not have any access points associated with it) completes in 2 minutes

Hi Russ,

Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately I can't open the files in the zip for some reason, I don't now if they've been nuked in transit. Could you check the zip opens at your end then maybe rename the extension to .zit and try reposting it.

Also on the device that fails you might want to try the following;

Create a new Device.CLI.Send commands activity.

As the first command enter a %ctUM: Timeout command to increase the timeout and then enter the command you normally issue to generate the backup and see if it gets the whole config OK. This may give us some indication if this is a timeout issue or something else.

The attach file dialog on this board comes back with the following:

Only files with the following extensions are allowed: , jpg, gif, png, mpg, sql, txt, cs, zip. Please select a valid file.

I re zipped them and reattached them, try it again. if it doesn't work, I can e-mail them to you.

I am having the same problem with Script Cisco.Wireless.Lan Model 4400 and it also does it when trying to backup our WISM's.

Using Kiwi Cattools Ver 3.4.0
