Hello All,
I'm getting an Alert message that the IPAM service stopped. How can the service be disabled from the server side to avoid further alerts?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Brendin
The main reason for services to stop in IPAM is due to the license being out of maintenance as it's not renewed etc, or something that was added and is now down got error's thus it's notifying you of them. IPAM is a Core Module, so once it's installed it will integrate itself with the Orion Core Platform, and thus there isn't a way to simply disable it. If you truly are not using it, then an uninstall of that module will be the best approach followed by the Configuration Wizard.
There is a way to stop the Business Layer plugin loading, but that is fairly advanced and could cause major issues if you're not familiar with the process. And it's more of a stopgap for troubleshooting than a long-term solution.
It would be better to check on why the IPAM service stops instead of disabling it.
I agree 110% ...under normal Solarwinds use for IPAM. However, we don't use SW for IP address management. Therefore, turning the service off completely is preferable.
Thx -- Brendin
If you don’t use it then you would be better off uninstalling the module
my thoughts exactly
Thank You for the excellent explanation of the underlying dependencies and potential pitfalls. I haven't seen the service stop message since posting this question. So, we'll continue to monitor the frequency and will uninstall the module as suggested if it becomes too annoying.
Thanks again to all who offered thoughts and assistance. Best Regards for the upcoming year...
