How to get started?

Hi!

I think I have an IP conflict in my home network, consisting of the main ISP router, 2 switches, 2 wifi routers configured as APs and around 30 units attached. I tried downloading the free trial to help detecting IP conflicts, but there are so many new terms that I can't get started with anything!

How do I get this program to simply scan my network for all existing IP-adresses used and try to see if there is any conflict? It seems whatever I try, I have to enter some "Windows credential" or something...

Does this program only work with high-end business class routers?

I do my duplicate IP reporting through the syslog viewer. I have a rule setup that looks for IP-4-DUPADDR message. If found, it sends me an email with the details.

If you have a managed switch (most home switches are not managed, but just in case) you can log in and check the MAC Address Table to find out what port that MAC is seen on. Find one MAC for your conflicting IP, trace it through the network, take it offline, and either change the IP or start over and trace the other MAC to identify your other culprit. This may or may not be possible in your network equipment, but in case it is, I thought I'd suggest it.
