Change ping size permanently
DaveNoonan
Our firewall blocks pings over 64k. I know it's possible to edit the data portion of the ping packet in Ping but...
A) How do I make the change permanent?
Is it possible to change the size for Ping Sweep? This is the one I really want to work.
Thanks,

Same thing here. Support told me that it's hard coded into the other tools.
Anybody else have any further info for help with the other tools?

I have contacted SolarWinds about this, and was told pretty much that "that's the way it is." This causes a lot of problems, but since the first post in this thread is 18 months old, and it hasn't been fixed in 8.2, I don't know if SolarWinds has much interest in addressing it.

To change the data sent in Ping Sweep, add a registry key called
ICMP Data
of type string to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolarWinds.Net\Ping Sweep\Settings
The value of the string is what will be using in the ping packet instead of the application version information.
Sample RegFile...
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolarWinds.Net\Ping Sweep\Settings]
"ICMP Data"="test"
