Interface error charts
dcomoni
hi,
monitoring the interface Serial0 and Tunnel0 of a Cisco 1721 (Gateway of one office of ours), I have noticed that the Graphs "Interface Error Charts" they show a quantity of "Receive Errors" and of "Transmit Discards."
WHAT DO YOU/THEY MEAN???
The ROUTER 1721 In the Other Offices don't Show These Errors!!!
thanks

Receive errors could indicate a cable or ISP link issue - Transmit discards are possibly due to line saturation i.e. router dropping packets as line and buffers full. Are your users reporting any connectivity issues at this office?

The sessions Terminal of Windows are interrupted in continuation. The LINK is stable but at times it becomes very unstable.

Try setting the interfaces on the 1721 and switch to either 10Mb or 100Mb. If both or just one is set to auto negotiate some connects/disconnets may occur

I am running SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor and it is showing many Transmit and Receive discards on several switch ports. When i telnet to the switches and examine the counters on these ports, they do not show any dropped packets.
Why is this?
