Can I Import data from Orion into the Toolset?

We use both Orion and the Engineer's Edition Toolset. In the event the server Orion is on goes down and cannot be quickly recovered, we'd like to be able to continue polling from another server or workstation. (Redundant servers are not in the current budget).

I was hoping that we could import the data from Orion into the Network Performance Monitor that is part of the Toolset. Is this possible?

Just to provide some clarity here - You can import devices from Orion into the Workspace Studio, just not into the Toolset NPM.

Last time I upgraded our Orion server I used the Network Monitor to monitor all nodes while Orion was down.
I tried to use Network Performance Monitor at first but could not find an easy way to import the nodes. In Network Monitor it was very easy just to import the list of nodes and IPs. But the downside is that you only can ping. For me that filled my purpose. But I would also be interested in importing to Network Performance Monitor.

I too am wondering if you can import the Orion database into the toolset?

There is no path to migrate monitoring configuration or data from Orion to Toolset. What you could do is to manually place your critical items in Toolset NPM ahead of time and if Orion goes down, switch on Toolset NPM.

I wasn't really looking at it from a fail over perspective as much as all the devices in your network are already in orion and these are the devices you would be using your toolset on to troubleshoot your network. So it just seems crazy/annoying to have to enter all those devices twice.

Well that is kind of annoying that there isn't better integration between the Toolset and Orion.

I'd like to be able to import my devices from orion, or be able to piont it to the orion device database for deviec propogation. Basically almost anything but have to manually enter hundreds of devices over again.

I have to agree with this. I have over 400 devices in Orion and to get them in to NCM I can import them so no great problem there. So would it not be a good idea to be able to import the same devices into the Toolset that we clearly will be using to look at the same switches in Orion/NCM.
