Curious what all the database folks are looking to learn this year.
This year I'm all about that automation. Want to better learn PowerShell, DBATools and general scripting.
What about you?

I have always wanted to go sailing. But I'm more of "drink cocktails while someone else does the work" kind of sailor.
We all have our place.
I really liked this article on Sharding. Jonathan lays it out nicely - An Introduction to Database Sharding With SQL Server .
PowerShell, APIs, PowerBI and get more comfortable with VS Code.
Makes perfect sense, its hard to find people who want to do the actual work of running a boat so for now I haven't even bothered to buy my own boat. I just put it out there to local sailors that if they want to take it out they can call me and they keep my available free time pretty well covered. Probably in a couple years when one of these older guys decides to get out of the game I'll scoop their boat up for cheap.
I've been trying to thread the needle where I don't get too deep in sailing that I start wanting to buy fancier toys and end up having to get un-retired and go back to work to pay for boat bits.
I've never liked web dev, but it's on my list right now since I'm neck deep in automating a bunch of our solutions in PowerShell Universal. Past that, I'm going to start some deeper dives on security and tuning with the new features in SQL2022. Plenty to stay busy with!
I'm sure those old guys love you too. Someone to share their passion with.
Oh, is that all? lol
Class mate from 1st to 9th retired at 48 with her husband, bought a sailboat, and been sailing around the world for the last 5 years. Just the two of them. Picked it up in Turkey, over to the Canary Islands, then to Bahamas. Taking their time enjoying life.
Strangely enough.... how to become a better cook, i.e. eat healthier.
Database wise, more tuning to be able to save some money in Azure.
Maybe Redis... Small projects, non-mssql I think... will see how it goes!
